About Carol Nelson:

I paint in a variety of styles from realism to abstraction. Most of my work is done in oil and acrylic with subjects being animals, landscapes and flowers. My realism work is characterized by strong light and shadow, dynamic composition, and vibrant color.

On occasion, I'll go on a wild fling and do abstract work. Abstract frees the soul. It's like going on a journey with no map and no destination. That is both a blessing and a curse for the artist. I never know what a painting will end up looking like because I have no references to guide me. The painting evolves as I'm painting it. It's a totally creative process and that's why I love it.
