About Keiko Tanabe:

Ever since I fell in love with watercolor, I’ve been painting in this medium non-stop. I felt, “Finally I’ve found a voice!”

Watercolor painting is a language I have learned to speak to tell my stories of who we are and how we live. It is a creative tool to capture the simple truth in our everyday life and a vehicle to communicate my artistic vision on the joy of living.

It doesn’t matter whether it is a street in a far-away locale or my neighborhood; I’m passionate about depicting tiny slices of life of the ordinary people. We are all human despite the differences in many aspects of our cultures and societies.

In the last 4 years, my paintings have been juried into more than 100 exhibitions and received many awards and recognitions in National and International exhibitions. My work has been collected internationally.

Recently I was featured in the summer 2009 issue of American Artist/Watercolor magazine. In the summer of 2009, I was chosen to participate in the 4ème Biennale de l'Aquarelle in Brioude, France as the first exhibitor from the United States.
