About This Painting

Recital time again. When babies take a bow. A showcase of little ones in tutus & tiaras. One goes one way, one another... Some collide. Petals fly. Nothing in sync but their levels of adorable.

About Johanna Bohoy

Johanna Bohoy is a professional designer/illustrator and paints to complete her life of art. "My motivation is to capture this life, to give beauty to the world, and leave something behind when I leave this earth.” LIGHTCAUGHT is named for a show she had at Boston City Hall of paintings that captured light from dawn to dusk. “Everyday we encounter simple things, people, places that affect our lives. I capture them.” These pastel, watercolor, and mixed media paintings span the seasons and focus on simplicity, mood, and serenity. She has exhibited her paintings at Boston City Hall, Clark Art Institute, Phillips Andover, various galleries, and other public venues. Her paintings and commissioned pieces are in private collections across the US, from the East Coast to Hawaii & Alaska, Canada, Europe, and Asia. Recently she was interviewed for BNN Boston Neighborhood Network about her self portrait, and her "rose" painting was chosen as the banners to line the main streets of Beverly, MA. She has authored and illustrated a children’s book, and her artwork has been used by numerous companies. She has been invited to lecture at the Smithsonian and other organizations, judged numerous design shows, and has been the featured designer in the professional ‘design bibles’– CA and Print Magazine. Her award-winning work is in the permanent collection of the Cooper Hewitt Design Museum, NYC, and the Amity Art Foundation, and has won numerous awards. Johanna lives in an 1860s gatekeeper's cottage in an ocean town with her husband, dog, and cat and paints in their studio– a converted duck house. Along with painting– photography, her gardens, discovery and ballet/dance are her passions.
