About Kimberly Conrad

"Art and music are to my soul, as food and water are to my body. I believe that they are two of God's most precious gifts to His children. As the author and giver of creativity, through these gifts, He has given us a portion of Himself. He created the very first canvas, magnificently painted it, and brought it to life" I am a full time artist, dividing my time between painting and teaching in my Colorado studio. Having painted on most every surface imaginable, at this time I work primarily on canvas, board, and paper. Though my style remains quite diverse, I believe I have the heart of an Abstract Expressionist, or even more accurately, an Action Expressionist, as I am most definitely an "action painter". I love the "pouring" of paint, allowing the paint to move freely and tell it's own story. My part in the conversation is to move my body to the rhythm of the emotions it evokes in me, my contribution determined by the temperament of those emotions, whether joyous, angry, peaceful, sad, or frenzied. It is a mysterious relationship, and is thrilling when the painting finally reveals itself, and our private journey becomes a story to share. In December of 2013, I opened Kimberly Conrad Contemporary Art Gallery in the Capitol Hill area of Denver, in the second story of a beautiful old boarding house built in 1906. Shortly after, I rented an additional space across the hall to use as my studio. Both the gallery and the studio overlook the 7th avenue restaurant district, and provide beautiful city views.
